Arrange ideas, take calculative risks, fearlessly freestyle, and stack your deck with chart-toppers. If you love the depth of "Sushi Go" or "Unstable Unicorns" but wish they had a killer soundtrack - Hook is your game. Hook is the musical party game where terrible songs can win, wild rhymes rule, and enthusiasm goes a long way.

Draw Your Hand

Each round starts with the public declaring the next big hit. Each player gets a fresh draw of six cards. You'll receive some combination of Lyric cards, Amp cards, and Fill in Lyric Cards. A touch of creativity and little bit of luck will bring you a long way (Just like real life). "Time is Money", you have 60 seconds to assess your cards, and another 60 seconds to swap and make your final submission.

Play Your Cards

Do you have what it takes to outdo your fellow artists? Each round you have one chance to exchange up to three cards for new ones, looks for similar genres or rhyming schemes to write a beautiful new hook! Use your creativity to fill in the blank or put all of your chips in the center and perform your hook with an AMP Card!

Top the Charts

The public will decide which artist has the best four lyric hook and declare the winner, unless of course you lay down an amp card that matches the next big hit. Do you have the guts and to win over the public with a sick air guitar solo or ask a fellow artist to collaborate and drop a hip hop beat?

The Setup - One Public, Everyone Else Is an Artist
HOOK is a party card game built around 120 Lyric Cards across ten music genres, playable with 3 or more players.

Every round, one player becomes the Public (the judge), while everyone else is an Artist trying to drop the next big hit. Rotate the Public to the right each round.

Flip the Title Card - Set the Song
The Public flips over one Lyric Card to set the song title - for example: "I mailed a letter to the sky."

Each Artist then draws six Lyric Cards and looks for lines that rhyme, flow, or just sound great together. Words like sky, bye, lie, and die naturally click - catchy hooks almost always do.
💡 Recognize Rhyme Schemes quickly with the number at the top of each card. Cards that rhyme share a number - like getting a pair in poker.

Build Your Hook - Keep 3, Swap Up To 3
Each round, Artists keep at least 3 of their cards and may swap up to 3 once to improve their hand. While swapping, hunt for rhymes that click and lines that flow naturally.

The secret? Hooks hit harder when they rhyme - and feel even better when they match the genre.
💡 Every Artist must include the shared title card in their final four-line hook. It can go anywhere. Blank cards let you write in your own line for maximum creativity.

The Reveal - Submit, Shuffle, Judge
Once hooks are finalized, the Public turns away while submissions are placed face-down and mixed. The Public turns back, reads each hook, and chooses their favorite.

In this example, Artist Two builds around a matching rhyme set - sight / fight / might - while Artist One leans into a different scheme - play / stay / Dre.

Play an AMP Card
Perform Your Hook
If you're holding an AMP card that matches the genre of the Big Hit and you choose to use it, get ready to blow the crowd away - you play four cards instead of three.

Sing it, rap it, add an air-guitar solo, or get wildly creative. AMP cards let you perform your hook live to make it hit even harder.
⚡ Heads-up: Using an AMP card removes the fully unbiased nature of the round, since performance can influence the judge beyond lyrics alone. Use this power wisely.
